How to: Create a Recycled Greenhouse

Share it on:

Today Daniel Lambert, from Allotment Lovers UK shares with us how to create a Greenhouse from recycled materials, using used and found materials. With a little DIY know-how, this stunning greenhouse can be made on a tight budget.

What you’ll need:

  • 3 Old Glass Windows or Door Panes
  • 1 or 2 x Window Pane
  • Flat Wooden Planels
  • Cicular Saw ( Optional)
  • Saw
  • Paint Brush
  • Drill
  • Plenty of Recycled Screws

The first thing, that Daniel did, was to mark one square frame, that would be become one of the the end panels. The size of which was based on a old window panel that would become the other side.

Using old wood and screws, Danield measured the same size as the window planel and created a frame.
Plenty of screws! If they are little rustry that’s no problem.

The two length of the greenhouse are made up two door panels, made of glass and in pre-made wooden frames, these are perfect for the job. For the sides Daniel used one window pane for one side and frame, paneled with wooden planks for the other side. A little sawing and screwing is required. But by using the existing shapes pf the door and glass planels, a lto of work is saved whilst creating a stunning look. The door is already painted and treated, but if you wanted you could paint it a different colour.

The back of the greenhouse is made up wooden planel screws on the frame. The roof is made up of a door planel. The existing door hindges have been screwed in the frame, to allow easy acess to the plants inside.

Daniel’s audience watches in anticipation.

On side of the greenhouse is made up an old window panel, while Daniel didn’t have another one, the otherside is pannel with recycled wood.

The Greenhouse is finally finished and ready to home Daniel’s first guest, Tomatoe plants and Chilly! These warmth loving plants will be very happy on their new home!
