Product information

Description

It might come in at an impressively low-price point, but this classic petrol rotary-mower from British garden-machinery experts Mountfield nevertheless offers rugged build-quality, numerous convenience-features and excellent versatility.

Delivering heft power with a compact 125cc Briggs and Stratton 300 Series , four-stroke air-cooled motor from renowned makers Briggs and Stratton. Thanks to its overhead-valve (OHV) design, is characterised by its low-vibration, low-emission performance and superior fuel-economy.

The flexible Mountfield HP185 Petrol Lawnmower doesn’t just cut & collect; it’s also mulch-capable. When operating in mulching-mode, you’ll not only save time as there’s no collector to keep emptying, you’ll also naturally nourish the turf and be left with a neat, clippings-free lawn.

A hand-propelled machine, the Mountfield HP185 excels in terms of manoeuvrability, and will therefore prove a great purchase if you’ve got trees, ornaments, furniture and landscaping to negotiate.

Centralised cutting-height adjustment through the six positions offered makes the pre-mowing set-up a breeze; while Mountfield’s provision of a ‘collector full’ indicator ensures you’ll know in good time when an emptying-stop is required, thereby reducing the likelihood you overfill and block the exit-chute (the space-saving canvas collector holds a substantial 60-litres and benefits from a dust-limiting hard top).

This robust, steel-decked model has a mid-range 46cm cut and is ideal for areas up to 800m2.

New purchase Mountfield HP185 petrol Lawnmower Our only complaint was assembling the grass box which we found difficult, especially if you are not strong in your hands due to arthritis unfortunately.

Good buy Good quality, solid. Starts well, great improvement on cheap electric ones. Collects grass well, easy to manoeuvre. Heavy but that comes with a solid machine . Clever place to hide the key for the nuts but took me an age to find it !
I recommend this mower, I wouldn’t go back to a cheaper electric one.

Good quality Totally different machine from the cheap electric ones I’ve had before. Solid. Does the job well. It took me a while to get the machine together ( the key for tightening screws is hidden in a clever way ) but I’ve used it twice now and it starts well and is very efficient. It manoeuvres well, collects grass efficiently and joy of joy no wires !
With the solid quality comes weight and as a smaller female I’m going to need to develop some kind of ramp( piece of wood probably !) to get it up and down steps . On balance , Id still go for the heavier quality machine. I would recommend this as a quality product.

Excellent I could not be happier with this purchase. Initially, I hesitated, thinking that the price point was too low to indicate quality, but after reading reviews, took a chance. It works very well indeed. As mentioned by another reviewer, the mulcher is great. I am also impressed with the swiftness of delivery, the clear commmunications in the lead-up to delivery, and attention to detail from the company.

Brilliant customer service. Mower cut could be lower Arrived promptly, a little difficulty with assembly, well built , starts well and easy to use . Company gave excellent service when we needed a new petrol cap , it arrived next day with no charge ! The cut on the mower could be a bit lower

Mr. Arrived in reasonable time considering present conditions. Have used the mower once since purchase hence only 4 stars. I bought this mower in place of my old Mountfield which gave up the ghost after about 15 years so if this one lasts the same I would give it 5 stars. Would use Mow Direct again.

great mower, great value The Mountfield and Briggs&Stratton combination is unbeatable. Ordering was easy, delivery was prompt and assembly by my son was apparently no problem. Performance is great, I particularly love the mulching feature and the easy cutting height adjustment. Thoroughly recommended

Good value and good performance This mower arrived quickly and so far no complaints with regards to performance. Assembly instruction book a bit baffling. I haven’t tried the mulching accessory yet but the mower is easy to start and rolls and cuta well with a good size grass box. I would recommend this mower.
